Founded in 1972, our rich history of innovative programming and commitment to excellence has made Gosnold a program of choice for addiction treatment.  Throughout our history we have been committed to developing innovative programs that meet the needs of patients and families.

Milestones and Achievements

1987: Forbes Magazine recognizes Gosnold as one of the 12 leading substance abuse treatment programs in the United States.

 

1988: 100 Best Treatment Centers – Gosnold is is selected as one of the 100 best treatment centers in the United States. 

 

1993: Emerson House Women and Children’s Program is selected as a nationwide demonstration site for the development of residential treatment for pregnant women and women with young children.

 

1995: Emerson House is featured in a two part series on ABC Network’s Nightline.

 

2003: Robert Wood Johnson Foundation selects Gosnold as one of 10 programs in the United States to serve as a national model to improve substance abuse treatment.

 

2011: Gosnold is named “Mental Health Agency of the Year” by the Massachusetts Mental Health Counselor’s Association.

 

2012: Behavioral Health Innovation of the Year Award.  Awarded by the Network for the Improvement of Addiction Treatment (NIATx) for the innovative Falmouth Hospital Collaboration. 

 

2012: James W. West Quality Improvement Award. Given by the National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers (NAATP) for the innovative Falmouth Hospital Collaboration.

 

2012: Excellence in Clinical Outcomes Award. Awarded by the Massachusetts Association for Behavioral Health for the innovative Falmouth Hospital Collaboration.

 

2014: James W. West Quality Improvement Award. Given by the National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers (NAATP) for the Young Adult Opiate Program.

 

2014: Raymond V. Tamasi & Gosnold receives the Eastern Bank Community Advocacy Award in recognition of 40+ years of contributions to the community.

 

2014: Raymond V. Tamasi awarded the “Lights on After School” Certificate of Appreciation by the Boys and Girls Club of Cape Cod in recognition of 42 years of dedicated service to the promotion of quality outcomes for youth and community.

 

2014: Raymond V. Tamasi recognized by Official Citation of the Massachusetts House of Representatives for “decades of dedication and vision in the creation of prevention and intervention programs.”

 

2015: Quality Innovation Award. Given by Tufts Health plan for the Young Adult Opiate Program. 

1972: Cape Cod Alcoholism Intervention and Rehabilitation Unit (CCAIRU) opens at Barnstable County Hospital in Pocasset. CCAIRU will eventually be renamed Gosnold.

 

1974: The first Outpatient Program opens.

 

1974: Emerson House for women opens and becomes one of the first treatment programs in the United States designed for women.

 

1979: Stephen Miller House opens as a program designed to treat deaf patients suffering with addiction.

 

1982: Gosnold Treatment Center opens in Falmouth as a 14-day detoxification & rehabilitation unit.

 

1982: CCAIRU officially changes its name to Gosnold.

 

1984: Miller House transitions to an all-male residential treatment program.

 

1992: Raymond V. Tamasi named President & CEO of Gosnold.

 

1993: Emerson House Women and Children’s program opens to provide treatment for pregnant and post-partum women and their infants.

 

1996: Gosnold merges with the Thorne Clinic to provide Mental Health services.

 

2002: Gosnold establishes a Drug Court Treatment Program.

 

2004: Gosnold at Cataumet opens as a 30 bed inpatient

rehabilitation program.

 

2008: Reaching Out Family Program is established to provide

education and support to families affected by addiction.

 

2011: Award-winning Falmouth Hospital Collaboration begins.

 

2012: The Gosnold Outpatient Detoxification Program is launched in Centerville.

 

2012: Young Adult Opiate Program is established to provide additional services to young people on Cape Cod addicted to opiates.

 

2014: Gosnold launches the Prevention Division to increase awareness and early intervention efforts.

 

2015: Gosnold receives MA state funding for a Tele-psychiatry program that will improve access to psychiatric services for residents of Cape Cod.

 

2015: Gosnold partners with Cape Police Departments to establish an Overdose Intervention Program.
